How to prioritise effectively by creating this one simple daily habit

Would you like to cruise through your work day effortlessly and happily while you increase your productivity at the same time?

As you may have noticed by now, I’m a big fan of starting your day out right, to set yourself up for a fantastic day, day after day after day.

There is one thing I do when looking at my to do list that sets me up for a happy, effortless workday.

Would you like to know what that is? Yes? I thought so!

It all comes down to scanning my list and how I prioritise.

Now at times I advise clients to do the opposite of what I’m about to tell you. It’s when they’re feeling down, after having a break or holiday from work or severely lacking in confidence.

But when you’re cruising along and all is quite well I highly recommend trying this prioritising technique.

STEP 1. Scan your to do list and choose the hardest task on there, the one you are really resisting, perhaps you’ve been putting it off for ages.

STEP 2. Do it! Do the hardest thing first – why? Because when you do the hardest thing first, after you have finished it you feel fantastic! You are so happy and guess what? Everything that comes after that is a cinch!

Step 3. Repeat it every day for a whole week and let me know how happy you feel and how productive you become.

I like to follow this strategy in my personal life too, by getting up really early, exercising hard, challenging my mind, body and spirit and guess what happens then? After a morning like that, whatever comes my way for the rest of the day seems easy.

    Hi Jacqueline,
    This is a great tip, thanks for reminding me to scan that list! And you are so right, if that task keeps showing up day after day, it doesn’t get easier to tackle it! You just feel more guilty! So I resolve to start on the task, and stay with it till it’s CROSSED off the list – which is my tip – a physical list is very satisfying to strike through!
